The earthquake in Haiti has resulted in a terrible loss of life and destruction for the people of Haiti. As part of the re-building of health service infrastructure following the immediate rescue and recovery operation, the World Council of Optometry will be working with eye and vision charities and associations to advocate for the inclusion of eye and vision care in the planning and delivery of health services.
Charities working in Haiti to deliver eye and vision care include Sightsavers International www.sightsavers.org and Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity www.vosh.org and members should regularly check their websites for information on their programmes in Haiti.
