Call for abstracts for WCOE 6 in Durban

The sixth World Conference on Optometric Education (WCOE 6) organised by the World Council of Optometry (WCO) will be held in Durban, South Africa from 22-24 September 2010.

In 2010, the WCOE 6 meeting will be held jointly with the World Congress of Refractive Error (WCRE) meeting which runs from 20-22 September 2010, giving conference attendees the unique opportunity of attending two prestigious conferences at the one spectacular destination.
 
The theme of WCOE 6 is Meeting society’s needs: Challenges and trends in optometric education. The conference will feature multi-disciplinary panels that address three sub-themes.
 
We’re calling for abstracts for oral, video, workshop or poster presentations at the 2010 event which address the three themes:
 

  • Theme 1 Developing appropriate human resources
  • Theme 2 Strategies in providing quality education and curricular development
  • Theme 3 Trends and developments in optometric education programmes.

In addition to the three themes, posters only are also invited on the topics of :

  • Examples of current optometry programmes and curricula
  • New publications/papers or collaborative research published since the World Conference on Optometric Education 5 meeting in May 2006.

All material should be submitted to WCOE via www.worldoptometry.org, with deadline for receipt of abstracts 1 March 2010 and posters 1 April 2010.
