   Dr Irv Borish, often known as 'the father of clinical optometry', passed away in March at the age of 99.

   The next WCO Governing Board meeting will take place in Chicago, USA, during our conference, Advancing Optometry Worldwide. The following meeting will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, on 17 and 18 November 2012.

5. World Health Organization renews official relations with WCO for a further three years

   At its 130th session which took place in January 2012, the World Health Organization's (WHO) Executive Board agreed to maintain the World Council of Optometry (WCO) in official relations for a further three year term as part of its Civil Society initiative.
